The good witch

This Sweet Pea image can be found on Plate #23 along with 3 other witch images for other seasons of the year and a great verse that can be used throughout the year.
I colored the image with Twinkling H2O's and trimmed close to the image. Before mounting it onto the handmade paper, I ran the handmade paper through the Cuttlebug with the pumpkin and vines embossing folder; it is difficult to see the embossed image on this photo, but in person it adds some great texture to the card. A piece of purple card stock was cut slightly smaller than the orange card and then punched across the bottom with an EK Success border punch. The handmade paper was attached to purple card stock using black brads and then attached to the purple card stock. Before attaching the purple piece to the card, I tied the black ribbon around the piece. Since Halloween has passed me by, I may need to save this card for next October!!!

A beautiful moon

This wonderful Ching-Chou Kuik image is available on Sweet Pea Plate #20.
I started by stamping the image with black India ink and then painting with Twinkling H2O's. I trimmed close to the image and then punched the corners with a 'ticket' punch. After edging with a silver Krylon pen I mounted the image onto silver metallic card and then onto a larger piece of decorative cardstock. Before attaching this all to the card I wrapped a purple ribbon around the right side and simply tied it into a knot. I took 2 paper flowers, painted them with twinkling H2O's, and attached with a gemstone brad to the lower left corner of the mounted image. Rather than center the decorative card stock onto the gray card, I lined it up with the right edge of the card. Sometimes I get too caught up in centering and besides, I think it looks better this way.
Check out this image and all the rest that are waiting for you at Sweet Pea stamps! Chrissy

Dress it up!!

The dress form image I used on these 2 items is on Sweet Pea plate #7.
I created a card starting with lavender cardstock. I used a decorative photo corner punch and then cut another piece of lightweight purple scrapbook paper to fit within the corners. I did edge the purple piece with a black marker before putting the piece in place. I stamped the dress form 4 times on the purple paper and then stamped the sentiment in the center. To 'dress up' this card I then stamped the dress form onto 4 different colors and patterns of scrapbook paper. I cut out the dresses without the dress stand from those papers, ran them through a Xyron and then attached them to the stamped images on the purple paper. I had some purple faux gemstones in my large supply of embellishments, so I attached one to each corner of the card using glue dots.

This ATC was made for a swap group. The theme was "What women want...". I thought of this stamp almost immediately and knew it would fit into the theme.
I had some scraps of background papers laying around. This piece was created by laying a piece of punchinella down and then spraying with Glitz Spritz; a watercolor spray that contains a mica powder. This particular color is pink; the photo doesn't really show how shimmery the ATC is.
I stamped the dress form in the center of the ATC with black India ink and attached a strip of lace and pearl ribbon down the right side. I typed the words using the computer and printed them on a piece of vellum. Once I cut them out, I ran them through the Xyron and then attached them to the ATC.

There are many more uses for this stamp. Let's see what you can come up with.... Chrissy

The Sweet Pea Follower Winner!

For this round we had 50 followers and 6 who also spread the word!

The lucky winner was number 44 - you have been notified and can contact me through the information I left! Thanks so much for playing along! This contest will continue through January so don't forget to become a follower while you are here and link to our blog for an additional entry!

Fantasy Art Sheet 2

These images are from the ching chou kuik Fantasy Art Collection sheet 2 - Plate #21. The images were stamped with black VersaColor ink, colored in with pencils and Copic Markers. The bases are mica card stock and the background papers are various pieces from my stash. Add a touch of bling with a Sakura Stardust pen, Queen and Co. rhinestones, ribbons, and Prima flowers finish them off.

Sisters

This page was created using images from plates 24 and 25.

The images were stamped on white paper, colored with Copic markers and trimmed out.
I tore a sheet of DCWV Once Upon a Time paper to create a curved edge (about 4" from the edge), inked all of the edges with Powder Puff Cocoa ink pad and Brilliance Copper.
Using a 12" x 12" black card stock for the base, I attached the distressed paper to the right hand side leaving a bit of the black as a frame.
The embellishments are triangles cut from DCWV metallic paper stack with Queen and Co. copper and white pearls and blue rhinestones attached randomly. The stems and leaves are 18 gauge copper wire that has been wrapped and attached to the paper with Judikins Diamond Glaze.
The stamped images are double matted - the base is a 4" x 6" black card stock and then a piece of the DCWV scrap was used for the top mat cut to 3.75" x 5.75". Both have been inked with the cocoa and copper pads.
The photo was matted on a piece of Club Scrap printed and textured card stock and the DCWV metallic print.
To embellish the stamped images lots of Prima flowers, Queen and Co. pearls and rhinestones were used.
To embellish the photo Queen and Co. rhinestones, pearls and a generic rhinestone set was used.
The title was made using a 1 1/4" and 1" circle punch. The base is the Club Scrap printed card stock edged with inks. The top piece is the DCWV metallic paper. The letters are rub-ons.
To create the star I folded a square piece of paper and cut a triangle out leaving the folded portion of the paper as the bottom. Once unfolded all the triangles should remain attach, like paper dolls. The embellishment is 18 gauge copper wire wrapped to create a circular shape.

Rising Flame

Rising Flame is one of my favorite images from ching-chou kuik's Fantasy Art Collection

I never expected to have so much fun working with orange and yellow! These colors are very outside my usual box, but this image forced me there and I loved every minute! Do not miss this stamp!

Have a Mystical Birthday!

This beauty comes from ching-chou kuik's Fantasy Art Collection 3 (plate 22). I used the image to make a sweet birthday card, by adding one of the sayings which comes from Plate #22.

For this card I started with the ribbon, which had two shades of blue, yellow, a tiny amount of red and brown. Starting with those colors, I stamped the image with Memento black ink. I then used Copic markers to color the image. I double layered the image on dark blue and brown papers onto a light blue card. Then I added the saying. I really think this card would be good for a man or a woman.

Have a stamptastic day!

black cardstock scrap with large standard circle die, layer white over black.

4)  Adhere circles together and to card front.  Affix girl image in center of
circles with dimensional tape.

5)  Adhere flower with brad in image and add glitter glue to necklace.

Directions:

1)  Squeeze amounts of glue onto non-stick paper (a drop for tiny dots or more for bigger ones).

2)  Allow to dry overnight before using.

Christmas Angel and Domino Art

Do you believe in Angels? I do! Today's card was created with one of the angel stamps from Plate 17. Whenever I stamp out images, I generally will stamp out several copies to keep on hand for later or for those rare instances of mistakes (I'm kidding you know.... I make mistakes ALL the time). This also came in handy this past month with the stress of being sick, holidays, work and room remodel because I just pulled out several of these stamped images, colored them with Copics and then used my square punches to punch out the image and the matting to quickly assemble this card. It really came together quickly, which was a good thing!

I absolutely love the images on Plate 17. They are so versatile. I can use these stamps with any season, such as Christmas in today's card. Valentine's, Easter, Guardian Angel, Comfort, Faith are all themes that this angel can be used in. I'm thinking a New Baby card with this beautiful angel would be awesome... hm!

This plate is also perfect to use for stamping on dominoes. This is such a quick gift to create and really, really easy.

For a tutorial & pictures, go here!

All you need are dominoes and Staz On ink pad. That's it! Well, since patience is not one of my strong points and I am always doing everything at the last minute, you might want to use your heat gun to speed the drying time. Once completely dry, I just glued the dominoes onto the frame backing (or if you are like me and have lots of sturdy cardboard laying around, use that).

I don't seal it but you could and I may actually try this technique except make a necklace....again, possibilities are endless! Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to check out the Sweet Pea Stamps shop and make sure to check back here tomorrow for more inspiration!

Wishful tag

I've been very inspired to use my distress inks lately so I gave it another try. This time I used black haired lady from plate 22.

The tag is quite simple really, just stamped the image once, added another bamboo stamp on top. Then I coloured the image with promarkers, added a gold bead on the flower and filled it with crackling lacquer. I stamped the word "wish" in fired brick distress ink and added red glitter glue on top. Finally I inked the edges with peeled paint. And voilá, a finished tag in 30 minutes tops.
Tag measures about 4-1/2 x 2".

The Gum Drop Gang

are out today keeping busy during their Christmas vacation. Today's cards features the Gum Drop Gang sheet #15. It is such a cute and versatile set of images that are perfect for scrapping also. The images were colored with Derwent and Prisma colored pencils. Most of the papers are Daisy D's. The brads are Queen & Co. Add some rub ons and coordinating stickers for two simple, fun cards. Here's to keeping our sanity while the kids are at home this week!

Egypt-Mermaid

I have been having so much FUN coloring this particular mermaid. I have more versions in varieties of colors around my house than I should admit to! However, I am especially pleased with the end result of this card. I'd love to see what you have made! Send your work to us to show off!

Connie-Most Beautiful Things

This creation uses the Christmas image from Sweet Pea Stamps Plate #23  "Seasons Of Fantasy".
One image is lovelier than the next on this plate.

Supplies:
SP Plate #23
ColorBox Chalk dye pad "Rouge"
Inkadinkado dye pad "Hot Pink"
Memento dye ink pad "Tuxedo Black"
Copic Markers
Crystal Lacquer by Sakura
Sponge Daubers by Judi-Kins
Glitter brad by Oriental Trading
corner rounder punch-Creative Memories

I trimmed a large white panel to fit on a pink base A2 card, rounded the corners and sponged inks around the edges.  I stamped the focal image on this and colored with Copics, adding Crystal Lacquer here and there & set aside to dry.
I trimmed some pink scraps, stamped only portions of a verse on each and affixed to white panel with brads after sponging edges.  I attached the white panel to pink  base.

Christmas gift tag

Christmas is almost here!!!! Are you wrapping gifts? Need some gift tags? Why not make the gift tag as special as the gift in the wrapped package!
I stamped this image, from Sweet Pea plate #23, onto white card stock with India black ink and then colored with twinkling H2O's. I trimmed around the image before attaching to the tag.
The tag was given to me by a friend so I can't explain how this was created, but you can create a tag in any way you wish. For this tag a special snowflake eyelet was used and a beautiful ribbon slipped through.
This tag could be 'recycled' by using it on a handmade card.
Are all your gifts wrapped and tagged already? Good for you! Then why not get a head start on next year??
Have fun stamping...
Chrissy

Enchanting Christmas card

There are some ching-chou kuik images that will help you create some enchanting Christmas cards. This image is on Sweet Pea Plate #20.
I stamped the image on white card stock using India black ink and then colored with twinkling H2O's. After cutting the image in a rectangular fashion I used a decorative corner punch for each of the four corners and then ran a silver krylon pen around the edges. I mounted the image onto a piece of glossy card stock that was colored with a variety of blue, green, and silver alcohol inks. I added some silver holly peel offs in the corners of the glossy card stock. I then cut a piece of burgundy 'ish colored card stock to be slightly wider than the glossy piece. Before mounting I ran the left and right edge of the burgundy card stock through the Cuttlebug with a holly-bordered embossing folder. The light aqua colored card was also run through the Cuttlebug with another of the border embossing folders along the right side of the card. Then the burgundy piece was mounted to the card slightly to the left of center so that the entire embossed edge could be seen.
I think these fantasy images add a bit of enchantment to any card, don't you??
Keep creating... Chrissy

Easel Card

I'll bet you create cards pretty enough to display!!! Then here's just the card design for you... an easel card. I used one of the Ching-Chou Kuik images and a sentiment on Sweet Pea plate #20. After stamping the image on white card stock with black India ink, I painted it with Twinkling H2O's, and then trimmed around the image. I attached the image to a piece of decorative card stock that was cut to 3 3/4 x 4" . At this point I inserted a white snowflake eyelet in each of the corners. I threaded decorative fiber through the eyelets and tied in the back to secure. Then I attached this to a piece of pale pink card stock that was cut to 4 x 4 1/4". This is the front of the card and is attached to the base of the card as described below next to the picture showing a side view of this easel card.
On the inside of this card I used the sentiment "Do you believe...." which is also on plate # 20.
I stamped the sentiment on a small piece of the pale pink card stock with Raisin Adirondack dye ink and trimmed with decorative edge scissors. I layered that onto a piece of the same decorative card stock used for the front and trimmed with the same scissors. I placed a white snowflake brad just above the sentiment making sure to leave a little space between the brad and the paper. You don't want to attach the brad flat to the card since it needs to support the front of the card when you display as an easel as shown in this picture.
Here's a side view of the easel card to help you see how this card is put together and how it works.
This card happens to be 4" (across) x 4 1/4", but you could alter the size based on the size of the image you place on the front of the card.
There are basically 2 pieces to the card:
- 8 1/2 x 4"... this piece is scored and folded in half and then the top half is scored and folded in half again. This is the base of the card
- 4 1/2 x 4"... this piece is the front of the card. The bottom half of this piece is what is attached to the top 2 1/8 x 4" section of the base of the card.
A brad is placed anywhere from 1 to 2" up from the bottom of the base (mine is the white snowflake brad). Where you place the brad will depend on how large the sentiment or stamped image or decoration is that you place at the bottom of the card (in my case it is the saying "do you believe...").
To set the card up as an easel... when you open the card, flip/turn the front of the card so that the front bottom edge is resting up against the brad.
I hope this helps, but if it isn't clear just Google easel cards and you'll find other samples that may help you to design this type of card.
Have fun creating... Chrissy

A simple gift for a friend

The images and sentiments used for this bookmark can be found on Sweet Pea plate #7. And the plastic bookmark holders are also sold on the website; go check it out!

Here's how I created this bookmark:
- I cut a piece of Basic Grey double sided scrapbook paper that would fit into the plastic sleeve.
- I stamped the image and sentiment on watercolor paper and colored with Twinkling H2O's. I cut them out and ran them through the Xyron machine to apply an adhesive.
- I cut 2 ribbons, one a solid green and the other a white with multi-colored dots, to approximately the length of the paper. I then trimmed the dotted ribbon to a slightly smaller length than the other ribbon and snipped both ends of both ribbons.
- I applied double sided tape to both ribbons placing the green ribbon down the right side of the bookmark first and then the dotted ribbon on top of the green.
- I attached the image and the sentiment to the bookmark next, and then edged all sides with a gold Krylon pen.
On the opposite side of this bookmark.....
- I cut 2 pieces of very thin brown ribbon that would fit down the left side and across the bottom. I ran them through the Xyron sticker machine to apply adhesive and set them in place.
- I stamped the image and the sentiment onto watercolor paper with India black ink. Then I painted both with Twinkling H2O's.
- I trimmed the 2 pieces attaching the sentiment with square brads and ran the image through the Xyron and then attached to the bookmark.
- I edged all 4 sides with a gold Krylon pen and slid the piece into the plastic bookmark holder.
- I cut various pieces of fibers and strung them through the prepunched hole at the top. I added several beads to some of the fiber ends.
Do any of your friends like to read???
Make them a bookmark....

Merry Christmas to All!

I'm dreaming of a metallic Christmas! Wishing all of you a happy holidays this year. I used one of the elegant lady stamps from sheet #17. I paired it with the Merry Christmas stamp.

I stamped the image on thick white cardstock and used copic markers to add color highlights. I stamped shimmery silver paper with "Merry Christmas" using Memento brand ink. I trimmed one side of it with a border punch from Fiskars. I mounted everything on metallic gold cardstock. The embellishment is actually a gold metal concho. These are often sold in the beading aisle. They are usually used for holding scarves or small belts. They are fairly inexpensive and make nice dimensional embellishments for cards. They come in all sorts of shapes and patterns. For this card I just laced in some sheer ribbons and use dimensional glue dots to hold it in place.

Merry Christmas to you!

Christmas Fairy

Hi everyone! As busy as it is for me and everyone else right now, I took some time Sunday morning to color this beautiful Christmas Fairy from Seasons of Fantasy -Plate 23.

She is stamped on Neenah Classic Crest card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, then colored with Copics. I used papers from Magic of the Season paper pack from Hobby Lobby which I die cut with my Nesties (Labels 9, Labels 8 and Labels 1). I found my Snowflake Brads (Make It Possible - Hobby Lobby) which I colored red with my Copic marker. While digging through my 'Christmas' stash I also found a sheet of Christmas Words and Phrases stickers from Making Memories, using the 'Christmas' sentiment sticker.

I will have to tell you that I had a really hard time using the papers from the paper pack, I really tend to lean towards a simple, minimal look. However, with my craft supplies back in the new craft room in no order, I went with what I was able to easily find, thereby stepping outside of my comfort zone. Because I wanted to focus on the beautiful fairy, I did NOT blend the stark white in with the off white in the paper. What do you think? Think it works?

Make sure to check out the Sweet Pea Stamps store, Lynette has some awesome (and I mean AWESOME) sales going on right now. If you haven't stopped by the store you are going to LOVE the new ©ching-chou kuik's Fantasy Art Collection, sheet 6. I can't get enough of them. Absolutely love them. Make sure to check back here each day to see the rest of the design teams amazing creations.

Thanks for stopping by!

Bamboo Serenade

Here's another beautiful design from ching-chou kuik's fantasy stamp line called Bamboo Serenade. You can purchase this stamp individually or as a part of plate #22.

I stamped up the image on white paper using Memento ink. Memento ink is a wonderful, dark, smear free ink that drys quickly. It will not run when used with watercolor pencils or Copic Markers. It has become my new favorite ink pad. I colored the images using Copic markers. I layered some beautiful fall colored ribbons that matched the colors in the card and placed a button on top.

Project Materials: Cardstock (Bazzill); Ink (Memento); Stamp (Sweet Pea Stamps); Color (Copic Markers); Ribbon (Michaels); Button (Grandma's Button Bag); Adhesives (Pop Dots, Glue All, Paper Studio Ribbon Glue);

Have a wonderful day!

Artist Hayden

The easel card format seemed especially appropriate for using with this image of Hayden painting. It also allows the picture to be the primary focus and decoration. This one is going in my stack of Valentine's Day cards. I am going to be doing many more Valentine's Day cards featuring Hayden and Cameron. Did you see the new sheet that is perfect for this? It is the "Be Mine" sheet and available now!

Lilac Christmas

Today I've been playing with the amazing new stamp called Winterberry from plate 20. I woke up today with a craving - there's no better word for it - to craft! I have a huge DT package with stamps that are hinting to me to be inked so who am I to refuse?

I only coloured the left part of the image. I think these stamps are so beautiful that they don't need much colour. I like that you can see how the image looks before colouring. It's stunning even then!
I coloured using my Promarkers and added shimmer using a white Twinkling H2O on the snowflakes and tail. I punched out snowflakes in different shapes and cardstock.

Colour: promarkers blossom, pastel blue, ice grey 1 and 3, ivory and silver, white twinkling h2o.
Paper: art blanché from EK success, bazzil bling
Tools: spellbinders shapeabilities create a flake 1

Christmas is.... ANGELS

Have you seen this angel image that is available on Sweet Pea plate #12? I'm getting a jump on my Christmas cards with her.
For this card I started with a metallic blue square card. I stamped the image on a small piece of blue cardstock, trimmed it, and ran a silver Krylon pen over all 4 sides. I mounted the angel onto a piece of decorative scrapbook paper that was cut to the same height of the card and just 1/2" wider than the angel piece. Now, I've got a blue and silver theme going here. I ran the silver Krylon pen down both sides of that piece also. I had some silver vellum paper that I cut the same height of the card and just wide enough to be able to use a border punch down both sides so that it would show when mounted behind the decorative paper. At that point I had attached the piece to the front of the card, but thought there was still something needed. I had some light blue ribbon with silver stars on it, so I cut 2 pieces that I could attach to either side of the piece I had just attached to the card. And, since I had used the silver Krylon pen on the previous layers, I decided to run it along the left and right edges of the card also.
On the right, I started with maroon or wine colored card. I cut a slightly smaller piece of gold metallic cardstock and used decorative edge scissors along the right side. I have some beautiful handmade deep mauve paper that I cut slightly smaller than the gold, but before attaching it to the gold cardstock I attached a strip of ribbon and 2 fabric flowers to the left side. I then stamped the angel image onto pink cardstock with black ink and mounted on an angle to the front of the card.
The card on the left started with a yellow-green card. I cut a piece of green cardstock slightly smaller and used a decorative corner punch on all 4 corners. I stamped swirls onto the green card along the left and right edges using dark green ink and then attached a ribbon vertically across the piece attaching to the backside. The angel image was stamped with black ink onto a background I had made using various inks (yellow, green, and blue). I double matted the image onto a dark and then a light piece of cardstock before attaching the front of the card.
I like to use ribbons as embellishments. I think they can add some pizazz to a card.
Have fun making your own Christmas cards with this angel image..... Chrissy
